Even before there's a blank page, for me, there's an empty folder. When I start thinking about a new project, I usually start tearing articles out of the newspaper. That's the beginning, for me: a little ripped piece of paper, a magazine page torn out (often from a doctor's office, I must confess.) When I have two or three of these in a pile, they need a place of their own. That's when I label a folder. I just did it. It's red. It's called "New Novel." I don't know what it is yet. But it's now, officially, something....

How exciting. I love hearing about your process. I am deep in to writing my novel for NaNoWriMo this year. So its back to the keyboard for me.
Hang in there with your 55,000 words, Kate!
Very exciting to hear that you're already starting to think about that next book!
I love that when I read your blog I keep thinking "I read that in The Last Beach Bungalow!" I had no idea when I started reading it how much of yourself you had included!
