Are You An Ideaholic?

In Studio Note on the Creative Geek Life, Shaie Coggins writes a great piece on being an "ideaholic" -- someone who has idea after idea after idea (and all brilliant, of course.) This is so me. I am constantly constantly coming up with ideas for new books and new projects and new businesses, and I am seduced by each one each time. I have learned, however, that there is as much power in closing the door to good ideas as there is in opening the door to them. Sometimes -- most of the time, in fact -- you have to just say no so that one of those books or projects of business can come to life. As exhilerating as it is to have a great idea, it's even MORE exhilerating to see a great idea through. There is such satisfaction in committment.
